Online Scams

1) Multi-channel networks

A multi-channel network is a company that contacts YouTube channels that are growing in fame and tells them that they will broadcast your videos on their network if the channel gives a percentage of their YouTube money every month. The multi-channel network doesn’t broadcast your YouTube videos on their network and just takes a percentage of your YouTube money every month.

2) Discord Free Nitro

A discord nitro is where you can get special features like using gif emojis anywhere you want or changing your profile pic on different servers but you have to pay money to get nitro. If you get a free discord nitro from one of your friends in your contacts on discord or if you get it from a group, chances are it’s a scam. They will give a link you have to click on, log in to your account by entering all the details and nothing happens until your account is disabled. They log into your account and programme your account to spread this scam around. Since a nitro is meant to be paid, this scam is very common because most discord users would love it as free nitro. A way you can differentiate between real and the scam, the scam would ping and say @everyone.

3) Investment apps

Now, you may have seen many apps that talk about how people quickly became millionaires by using their “investment” app. They make you download their app, then you need to enter the bank details so they can transfer the money (they won’t give you money but instead take your money). This scam is meant for broke and unsuspecting adults since they aren’t aware of internet scams.

4) Giveaways

Imagine your favourite YouTuber is giving free giveaways like a brand new iPhone 13, PS5 or a MacBook Pro and you just have to follow 3 steps. You need to subscribe as the video and comment have done on their channel, it is just a sneaky way for them to earn more money by making you think you win any prizes for doing a few simple steps. You didn’t win anything and if they say you won the prize and ask for your personal information, don’t give it to them. They will just hack your accounts and do anything they want with them It’s not just YouTubers that do this, also people on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
